To Reach the Unreached

Did you know that there are 7,375 Unreached People Groups in the world?

7,375!

That amounts to a little over 3 billion people! 3 billion — with a “B.”*

This moves the heart of God — and it moves me. As I write now, I am looking toward heightened engagement with Unreached, Unengaged People Groups. I cannot now tell you the details, but it is utterly exciting to see Jesus move into areas where up until now His Name has been unknown.

I am reminded of the story in John 4 where Jesus crossed cultural barriers to reach one of the most unlikely converts. She is often called “the Woman at the Well.” He traveled into Samaria — where no good, God-fearing Jew ever wanted to go. He spoke to a woman with a sordid past, loose morals, and no social status.

I can imagine the Twelve Disciples rolling their eyes and thinking, “Why are we taking time with someone like this woman? Aren’t there enough needs back home in Galilee and Jerusalem?”

But, Jesus CROSSED THE STREET. He went. He did what no one thought should be done. The result was a huge harvest. He called it “fields white for harvest” (John 4:35)

I will be making two trips this Spring in missions. Again, I cannot give you the details now, but I do ask that you pray for God the Holy Spirit to do His work — to anoint, to guide, to bless. I want to thank you in advance for your friendship and support.

This past year saw a huge transition for Martha and me as we left a congregation I had led for 35 years. We are now settled in North Carolina where I will be engaged in doing those things God has most highly gifted me to do. One of those is missions! And that means REACHING THE UNREACHED.
